A Vegan Visits Cancun, Mexico (& eats lots of good food!)

Hi all,

As I indicated with my last post, I’ve been a little MIA lately. Work has been extremely busy, I am looking for a house, and I just  took a vacation to Cancun, Mexico! And the latter, is exactly what this post is about!

Restaurant Review: Townhall, Vegan Brunch!

FullSizeRender

Hello everyone,

Imagine, it’s a Sunday morning. You’re hungry. You don’t want to get ready and stumble around your kitchen to prepare a meal. So what do you do? You put some pants on and goto brunch! If you’re in Cleveland, there is no shortage of amazing places to eat brunch — even if you’re vegan!

I recently went to brunch at Townhall on W. 25th St.for the first time. Townhall is a popular bar and restaurant in a ‘hip and up and coming’ area of town, on the same block as the historic West Side Market. Their menu is full of designated vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options and includes a variety of local ingredients. As an added bonus, the restaurant is in an old renovated warehouse space and is warm and welcoming with open brick walls and a cozy patio! New Daiya & Hampton Creek Products Hitting Shelves!

Hello everyone,

Let’s talk about the vegan food market. For years, there were very few vegan cheeses. Then there were tasteless, rubbery vegan cheeses. Then we had some “okay” cheese alternatives. And now we have an amazing array of vegan cheese from Kitehill to Daiya.

One gap in the vegan market that I think many of us have been painfully aware of is a lack of vegan salad dressings! I mean, yes, we can goto almost any store and find a vegan Italian dressing, but blue cheese, ranch, french? Not a chance! Continue reading “New Daiya & Hampton Creek Products Hitting Shelves!”

Review: Marc Maron, WTF Roast, Just Coffee Co-Op

Hello everyone,

Cory and I love coffee. I mean we LOVE coffee. The smell of it, the taste of it…and the caffeine boost doesn’t hurt! We’ve gone through many coffee phases in the nearly six years we’ve been together—using pre-ground coffee and a regular coffee maker; then stepping it up and getting whole beans, a burr grinder, and using a french press; to finally using whole beans, a burr grinder, and an AeroPress.

You may not think that how you make your coffee matters much, but I beg to differ! AeroPress coffee is so much smoother and less acidic. The only downside is that it won’t make you six cups of coffee at a time. So if you’re pulling an all nighter or having a lot of guests, it’s probably a good idea to keep that ‘ol french press around! Continue reading “Review: Marc Maron, WTF Roast, Just Coffee Co-Op”

Review: Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy Ice Cream

 Hi all,

So unless you’ve been hiding under a rock you’ve probably heard the buzz about the new non-dairy Ben & Jerry’s product line. It’s been selling out around town, but this week I finally obtained one!

BenJerrysnondairy

There are four certified vegan flavors—meaning no eggs, dairy or honey. The flavors are  P.B. & Cookies; Coffee Caramel Fudge; Chunky Monkey; and Fudge Brownie. The ice creams are made with almond milk to provide a creamy texture and “blank canvas” for taste. Continue reading “Review: Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy Ice Cream”
