Summer Party Ideas & Recipes

Summer Party Ideas and Recipes

Hello everyone,

Are you busy preparing for the long holiday weekend? If you’re like me, that means three trips to the grocery store to pick up all the items you keep forgetting and hours in the kitchen obsessing over which side salad to make for your guests. Well I’ve got a helping of 4th of July Party Ideas & Recipes ready to go. And the one thing I know I don’t have to worry about is which faux meat to grill.

My hands down, favorite veggie dog is the LightLife Jumbo Smart Dog. This slightly larger dog actually fits the length of traditional hot dog buns, and it has the perfect texture + taste combo. Try it topped with a little mustard, ketchup, red onion and vegan cheese.

It’s so good and without the guilt—it’sonly 100 calories with 3.5g of fat and 4g carbs, plus it has 13g of protein! Even better, they are vegan and non-GMO. Healthy and hot dogs don’t exactly go together like pb&j, but this veggie dog seems to do the trick!

These veggie dogs are especially good if you lightly char them on the grill. And I do mean lightly. If you let them go too long, they’ll blacken and get a little “rubbery.” However, if you cook them just long enough, it makes for the perfect summer snack! If it’s a rainy day youcan also use a griddle. As you head to the store this weekend, remember to pick some of these up. Right now you can save $2.00 off any two LightLife products through Mambo Sprouts.

Okay. So now you know which veggie dog to cook. What else? Well for me, I’ll probably whip up a creamy, vegan old-fashioned coleslaw or maybe opt for an asian-inspired slaw. Of course, I have to make my signature macaroni salad, and maybe a summer bean salad, too. Plus, you can’t forget dessert! Perhaps I’ll go with vegan Rice Krispie Treats or maybe some melty, satisfying s’mores if the weather is just right for a fire.

Tell me, what are you planning for your holiday weekend?

Cheers!

Jocelyn

  1. Only one trip to the store. Love trying different macronie dishes. Somemores are a must around campfires.

  2. I have been to Home Depot twice this week and there is a person selling hot dogs outside. I have been craving one really bad, they look so good!

  3. I am all about summer party recipes! I am trying to soak up every moment of this amazing summer!

  4. I give you credit. Three trips to the store! But your veggie dogs do look really good. I like that you mention not to over cook them. My Mom loves her hot dogs dark so I wouldn’t be able to do that with these. I will share about these hot dogs with my daughter though as she is always looking for a great alternative when it comes to her meat (or should I say non meat selections.) Happy 4th of July!

      1. The field roast frankfurters have gotten great reviews but are hard to find where I live. Haven’t tried them yet but found them at Wegmans. My daughter and I were not big fans of the smart dogs. They don’t blacken and they tend to blister up in a weird way.

  5. All great summer foods! A good meal is always ended with smores for dessert, nothing better to end a fun summer day!

  6. I have never had a veggie dog though it sounds interesting. But I’m thinking it adds to the experience of summer in a sense. You can still enjoy a barbecue if you are a vegan.

  7. I am all about throwing gatherings during spring and summer. We love getting together with family and friends outdoors. On July 4th, we will be hosting a little get-together.

  8. Smores are definitely one of my favorite summer treats! A smores bar is a great party hit!

  9. This sounds like a great summer meal for a cookout actually. I have never tried the veggie dogs but they do sound interesting. We are having a family cookout for the holiday and than going to see the fireworks which is my favorite part. Thanks for sharing these party ideas.

  10. My husband I eat a mostly plant based diet, so I would love to try out these hot dogs at our next barbecue! Thanks for sharing!
